It's November Right?

Well we're pushing into November now which I'm pretty certain is winter time but what do I know? We're apparently having a record breaking year, Wednesday was 100 degrees according to my cars instrument panel on the way home (note this is San Diego County)... who knows.

Anyways I've been out of the simulators now for about two weeks so I've been back on the floor working live traffic on Manhattan and Laker. Both have been going rather interestingly. Nothing too impossible although on Wednesday I got rather destroyed on Manhattan but with some help from my instructor we got the sector back under control and running smoothly. Hopefully I will pick up all the tricks as quickly as I can, I'd really like to finish up Manhattan as quick as possible. Laker who knows, I'm sure I'll take my time on that one, it can be a rather confusing sector.

Rushed Sims

I have been back in the simulators training with another developmental from my area. He has one more sector finished then me so his minimum hours to complete before getting a skills check is a little less. He finished his final check ride for the Manhattan sector today, so I have been getting all the time in order to catch me back up to him. I finished level 3 today and got my skill check to move me up to level 4...PASSED, actually one of the better skill checks I've ever had. Tomorrow I will do 5 runs on level 4 and should have my skill check to finish the sector tomorrow after lunch! Then back to classroom for 3 more days and time to start Laker, joy :)

It has been hot for this area recently, yesterday was in the 90's and today its back into the high 80's. Thankful we're moving back to a cooling trend! I don't know if I could make it in the Empire area anymore, just too darn hot! Today after work when I got home The girls and I packed up into the car and headed to the craft store looking for some things for momo-chans one year birthday...No Luck! Not to fret though we headed over to Baskin Robbins 31 Flavors for some ice cream yay! Kaitlyn got the best with good ol' rainbow sherbet!

Whelp wish me luck on the check ride tomorrow, I oughta get my butt kicked a little! :)

Blogging and Sims

This morning it appeared that today was not going to go like clockwork. I started the morning off by taking a turn a little too tight and clipped the curb with my passenger side rear wheel, thankfully no real damage just some scratching on the outer portion of the rim. Then I arrived at my friend Jarrett's house to pick him up for carpool. After sitting in his driveway for 10 minutes I decided to give him a call. When he answered you could tell he just woke up, this is because he is working swing-shifts all week and I had just woken him up way too early. I felt rather stupid as he did remind me last week of the situation, but I was too tired this morning and running entirely off of habit. Thankfully the day improved from here...

Today was another day in the simulators at work, it actually went descent. I have been running the problems better on level 3 then I was on level 2 in my opinion. It has been an adjustment getting accustomed to Manhattan over Malibu, the sector is less complex by far but the volume is considerably more.

Been playing with the blog designer this evening trying to make this appear like a respectable blog. Not doing particularly well at this task, but have gotten a small amount accomplished. The house is clean for the most part and my wonderful wife is getting Kaitlyn to sleep! yay! When she finishes we should get some quality time to either chat about the day or just sit back and relax a little!

Tomorrow starts yet another exciting day in the sims :x Blah!

River Trip 2010 (With Casey Family)

Back In Class

That's right folks, I am back in the simulators again! After finishing up the Malibu sector and being qualified to solo that sector for about a month they sent me back for my next two sectors. I am now Training on Manhattan sector (D2 or South Departures off LAX) and Laker sector (Longbeach *LGB*, Hawthorn *HHR*, Compton *CMP* and Torrance *TOA* Departures). I have my work cut out for me, I am looking forward to the challenge. Almost finished with Manhattan in the sims then it will be time to start Laker.

Home life is going pretty well, the kids continue to grow in size and trouble ;p Nothing Shelly can't handle! Started attending Emmanuel Faith Community Church in Escondido, I believe the pastors name is Dennis Keating. It has been really good thus far a really good sermon today out of Romans Chapter 13 about obeying the government as God is the one who gave them the power they have...very interesting stuff. Toward the end of the sermon he talked about the Christian community and how their seems to be Obama bashing (often derogatory or even racist) inside the community. He then discussed how it is improper for the bashing to be going on as he is our President and he is to be respected as such.

I have the weekends off until mid to late October and this is the only weekend I do not have plans already (most of the future plans not made by myself ;p) Looking forward to seeing some friends and family though, something that I am currently deprived of and may continue that way with the schedules I will be stuck with at the Job!

Long Time Out

Been since February since I've had a chance to post on here. I really need to get some picture updates, start carrying a camera around or something. Still working on Malibu sector at the TRACON. The near completion of Malibu has been a long arduous journey with many ups and downs. There is hardly a day leaving work that doesn't represent that same fact as a whole, being any given day will contain components where I felt I have done really well combined with other elements that I have struggled with. Thanks to the help of the experienced controllers at the job, they have eliminated a lot of my struggling points. Although it seems as though there is always another huge hurdle to overcome. Hopefully I will be done with my first sector soon and all the hard work I have put in, along with those training me will get to stand out.

Life at home is good as well, my wonderful wife has put us on a budget to get us through until I get some raises at work...someones gotta keep us in check. My little Clow-bo is crawling around all over the place and pulling herself up to stand where she can a firm hold on a solid object, very cute indeed. Kaitlyn like my wife says when talking to her you forget you're talking to a two year old. Kaitlyn is very good at keeping a conversation and surprising you with all the things she comes up with. Her memory never ceases to impress me, from memorizing all the characters on the different shows we let her watch to all the different animals and objects she remembers from what either Shelly or Grandma Honey has taught her. The other day she was pushing one of our smaller furniture pieces and she needed help and was asking for it, then she said "Tway" a word she picked up from ni hao kailan that means to push. Funny how she just pulls it out of nowhere, amazing little girl.

Only thing going on currently outside of work and the family is a book series David got me started on by Naomi Novik. It has been really interesting so far and really hard to put down. Started Just last week and am almost half way through the third book, Black Powder War. Great series can't wait to get completely caught up and discuss it with my bro.

Looking forward to the upcoming months, my seven year anniversary is next month, I can't believe at all that I have been married for seven years. Although at the opposite end of that I don't remember what it was like to not be married anymore, I can't imagine life another way.

Hopefully I will add more updates, I say this every time I get around to updating this thing. Hopefully this time it will stick and I will get some pictures! Of course Shells does a good job of providing you all pictures on her blog.

Simulation

(This is an image of Malibu, Los Angeles North Departures radar)

Been awhile since I've blogged again, things are going pretty well though. I've been in the simulation room since Feb. 1st training on Malibu (Los Angeles North Departures). Things have been progressing well, today I passed my Check Ride (skill check) from level 3 to level 4. Level 4 is the last one before going to live traffic on the floor. Pressure and memorization have been high, but I've been picking it up a piece at a time. Thanks to the wife at home keeping things as stress free as possible I've been able to not get too overwhelmed. Should be on the floor next week around Thursday.
